Elusive Data was founded in 2024 after years of working with digital evidence and training forensic professionals around the world.
One problem appeared repeatedly. Investigators often had access to the data, but not always the right way to examine it, understand it, or explain why it mattered.
Large forensic platforms are essential to modern investigations, but no single product can cover every file format, application, database, or unusual piece of evidence. Sometimes an investigator needs a more focused tool that makes it possible to look deeper, test an assumption, or validate a finding independently.

Built from experience
Elusive Data was founded by digital forensic specialist and trainer James Eichbaum, drawing on decades of investigative work and the experience of training thousands of forensic professionals worldwide.
Today, that experience is being used to build a company focused on practical forensic tools, useful training, and the needs of the investigators doing the work.

In early 2024, James founded Elusive Data. The company was built on hands-on learning, real case data, and the belief that true understanding comes from doing. From the start, the focus was on making training more immersive, more practical, and more immediately useful in real investigations.
As the training evolved, another pattern became clear. Some of the biggest obstacles investigators faced were not just about knowledge, but about the gap between what tools showed and what they needed to understand in order to explain their findings with confidence.
That insight led Elusive Data to also develop focused forensic tools — practical utilities shaped directly by training and real casework. The goal is not to replace existing tools, but to remove friction, provide clearer context, and support analysis that is easier to validate and defend.

The company also supports active investigations through consulting and forensic services, in a field where methods, data, and challenges never stand still.
